Oistins Fish Fry Oistins is an active fishing town on the south coast and is a hub of activity on weekend nights. On Friday night particularly, the big thing to do is go to the fish fry in Oistins. The food is the main draw - excellent fish, (tuna, swordfish, marlin, mahy-mahy, flying fish), lobster, chicken etc served in an extremely informal setting. You can get your fish grilled or fried depending on which vendor you choose from. It’s all cooked on the spot in front of you. A plate of fish (and there’s plenty fish on it) and a beer will cost you about Bds$30.00. Seating is plentiful, if rustic, and in amongst the diners, the old-timers are playing dominoes. But there are also art and craft items on sale, including jewellery, pottery, ceramics, leather craft, wood carvings, straw craft, clothing and accessories, and original paintings and prints. There are two sources of music – one plays mostly back-in-time (Bob Marley, Platters, Jimmy Cliff, Jamaican ska, even old country and western!), the other calypso, including the current Crop Over hits. You can dance if you want or watch the others dance! Some nights there’s a live band. Food is usually available from about 7:00 pm but if you go early (say 5:45 pm) you can walk on the pier and perhaps see a great sunset. Collect your fish scraps from the vendors in the fish market and feed the turtles. Frequented by visitors and locals alike, it's a great place to spend an informal evening. Lots of parents bring their children. If you go after 8:00, be prepared occasionally for long waits for food. Dress down! festival

2009 NOV 28,29,30 Ursuline Convent's Pantomime - Pandora's Box Produced by Ms. Jill Otway, and performed by the students of the school, the Ursuline Convent's end of year pantomime is eagerly looked forward to by old and young alike. This year, they have taken the ancient Greek story of Pandora and the box of trouble.

Here's a synopsis of the play:

In the Kingdom of Olympus all is not well.Pandora, a beautiful maiden, was given a Box by Zeus, the most powerful of the Olympian Gods, with the instructions that she must never open it.Pandora possessed an insatiable curiosity and could not resist the temptation. As she cautiously opened the Box, out swarmed hoards of evils and miseries, that until then, had been unknown to mankind! What Pandora did not realize was that when she slammed the Box shut, Hope was the one who remained captive. In a rage, Zeus banished Pandora to the Kingdoms beneath Olympus that she would then be forced to witness the dreadful manifestations of what she had created. Two Naiad lads decided to accompany her in hopes that she would not be lonely.Pan, a Satyr whose Pan-flute music was often heard throughout the land, and Gaea, the Mother of the Earth, helped Pandora and her two Naiad brothers.  Eos too, assisted with her four winds. Many adventures follow as the trio meet all kinds of characters, some filled with compassion and love, and some ready to unite with the Evils.Princes and Princesses dance and Musical Notes shudder as Disharmony gets into their midsts. The gentle Moonbeams watch helplessly as Selene, the Goddess of the Moon is taken from them. When the Ripstick Bandits rob Pandora of her Box, a shocking discovery is made!

In the glory of the Kingdom of Olympus, magic will be created before your eyes! The romantic aura could only exist when the Greek Gods meet in our Pantomime of 2009. Dress down! festival
