Our concerns and committments are summed up in our Environmental
Mission Statement below:
Amaryllis Beach Resort resolves to continually review
our operations and policies to ensure that we maintain
optimal efficiency. We are committed to ensuring that all
our practices are benficial to the local environment and
community. We will abide by all laws and regulations that
have been established by our government. We will practice
the efficient utilization of our resources and we will
continually educate staff and guests on the need to protect
the earth that we occupy.
The beach at Amaryllis Beach
Resort is one of the most important turtle nesting sites
for the endangered Hawksbill species. We have repositioned
our lights and changed to yellow ‘turtle-friendly'
lighting outside our beachfront restaurants. Guests are free
to watch the turtles nesting or hatching. Please do not disturb
them or take pictures using flash. If you are the only one
on the beach when there is nesting or hatching please inform
Reception immediately. They will call the McGill University/University
of The West Indies teams so that the turtles can be monitored.
you know that only one turtle in hundreds that hatch will
survive to adulthood? Did you know that one a turtle hatches
on the beach of the resort that she will come back to this
each to lay her eggs when she reaches adulthood?
