Without a doubt, cricket is Barbados' national sport, with major social significance. Naturally, cricket is a British sport, which has united the Commonwealth for hundreds of years. The main arena in Barbados is Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. This is where the matches are played, but cricket grounds are found all over the island. Barbados contributes many players to the "national team", called WestIndies. Sir Garfield Sobers is a living cricket legend. He was knighted by Queen Elisabeth II and is considered the world's best cricket player of all time. That shows just how important the game is in the British Commonwealth.
